Our Vision

Advancing interdisciplinary knowledge on human development to understand and promote healthier children, youth, and families.

We’re on a mission to learn how children thrive!

We aim to understand the complex interactions that occur as children grow, with a focus on those in rural communities. Together, we can make a lasting impact on family well-being and youth development, and create a future where family and children thrive.

Families

Participate in a study

The BRANCH study aims to work with rural families to understand how families and communities promote strength and resilience to protect their youth from the ways in which stress influences behavioral risk for addictive behaviors, such as substance use.

Researchers

Learn about our projects

Our studies use interdisciplinary science to better understand how families foster healthy brain development and successful child development within their own contexts. We are studying families using secondary analysis of a large dataset as well as collecting information during an active and ongoing study.

Students

Discover opportunities

The Georgia Center for Developmental Science has many opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students. Undergrads have the opportunity to earn credit by enrolling in research hours or by volunteering time to gain experience working in a lab setting. Graduate students are an integral part of our research process, helping develop and implement study components, developing papers, and receiving mentorship in formal and informal capacities.

Through our dedication to empathy, collaboration, and equity we aspire to make a lasting impact for youth, families, and communities.
